Robert Wuhl

Robert Wuhl is an actor, comedian, and writer best known for his sharp, rapid-fire delivery and his Emmy Award–winning work on television. Born in Union Township, New Jersey, and raised in a Jewish family, Wuhl developed an early love of performance and storytelling. He studied at the University of Houston, where he began honing the observational humor and sports-inflected commentary that would later define much of his career.

Wuhl first gained national attention as a stand-up comic in the late 1970s and early 1980s, appearing on programs such as "The Tonight Show." His big-screen breakthrough came with roles in films like "Good Morning, Vietnam," in which he played a fast-talking radio staffer alongside Robin Williams, and Tim Burton’s "Batman," where he portrayed reporter Alexander Knox.

He is perhaps best known for creating and starring in the HBO series "Arli$$" (1996–2002), a satirical look at the high-powered world of sports agents. As Arliss Michaels, Wuhl delivered a biting, insider’s take on the business of professional sports, earning critical acclaim and two Primetime Emmy Awards for Outstanding Writing for a Variety or Music Program. The show became a cult favorite and cemented his reputation as a smart, industry-savvy comedic voice.

Beyond acting, Wuhl has continued performing stand-up and has been a frequent presence in sports and entertainment commentary, including projects tied to Major League Baseball.
