Robert M. Lee

Robert M. Lee is the CEO and founder of Dragos, Inc., a leading company focused on cybersecurity for critical infrastructure and industrial control systems. He is widely respected for his expertise in control system traffic analysis, digital forensics, and threat intelligence, and he regularly contributes to global discussions on industrial cybersecurity and resilience.

In 2025, he made the decision to rejoin the military by enlisting in the Army National Guard, allowing him to continue serving his country and community while maintaining his professional responsibilities. This role provides the flexibility to balance his leadership positions as CEO of Dragos and SANS ICS Practice Director with his commitment to military service.

Lee serves as a non‑resident National Cybersecurity Fellow at New America, where he focuses on policy issues related to protecting critical infrastructure. He began his cybersecurity career in the U.S. Air Force as a Cyber Warfare Operations Officer and later helped establish a first‑of‑its‑kind industrial control systems (ICS) cyber threat intelligence and intrusion analysis mission within the U.S. government.

A sought‑after educator and researcher, Lee is the author of SANS ICS515 – “Active Defense and Incident Response” and co‑author of SANS FOR578 – “Cyber Threat Intelligence.” He also serves as an adjunct lecturer at Utica College, teaching in the M.S. Cyber Operations specialization, and is pursuing a Ph.D. at King’s College London, where his research centers on the cybersecurity of control systems.

Lee’s work has earned broad recognition, including being named one of Passcode’s Influencers, receiving EnergySec’s Cybersecurity Professional of the Year Award (2015), and being inducted into Forbes’ 30 Under 30 for Enterprise Technology (2016).
