Robert Ford

Robert B. Ford is the chairman and chief executive officer of Abbott, a global company specializing in medical devices, diagnostics, nutritionals, and branded generic pharmaceuticals. Since joining Abbott in the late 1990s, Ford has held leadership roles across the company’s diabetes care, cardiovascular, and neuromodulation businesses, and led the integration of St. Jude Medical, Abbott’s largest acquisition. Ford has contributed to expanding Abbott’s portfolio and global reach, with the company serving more than 2 billion people in over 160 countries.

Ford directed Abbott’s development and distribution of diagnostic tests during the COVID-19 pandemic, advancing accessibility and point-of-care solutions in the healthcare industry. He has received recognition such as the Elite Leadership IMPACT Award and has been included in rankings of top global CEOs. Ford is also active in organizations including Business Roundtable and Economic Club of Chicago, supporting cross-sector collaboration and policy development.
