Rob Smith

Rob Smith is a nationally recognized political commentator, digital media strategist, and content creator with a social media reach of over 2 million followers across X (Twitter), Instagram, Facebook, and YouTube. He is the Founder and CEO of Rob Smith Media, where he produces political and cultural commentary and consults on digital media strategy and brand positioning.

A decorated United States Army veteran, Smith served as an infantryman during Operation Iraqi Freedom, including deployments to the Middle East. His military service and firsthand experience inform his public commentary on leadership, service, national security, civic duty, and American political culture.

Smith holds a Bachelor’s degree in Advertising and Communications from Syracuse University and a Master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia University’s School of Journalism. Following his military service and academic training, he worked in advertising and brand strategy on Madison Avenue, where he developed expertise in large-scale messaging, audience engagement, and narrative development.

He later transitioned into journalism and political media, working as a producer and multimedia journalist and becoming a frequent on-air commentator. Smith has appeared in more than 150 national and international television news segments, discussing U.S. politics, culture, global affairs, and the evolving role of digital platforms in shaping public discourse. He is the author of the memoir, "Always a Soldier: Service, Sacrifice, and Coming Out as America’s Favorite Black, Gay Republican", which chronicles his experience as a gay, Black U.S. Army veteran & conservative.

In addition to his media work, Smith is an experienced public speaker who has delivered talks at major corporations and academic institutions, including Google, Yale University, Vanderbilt University, Goldman Sachs, Deutsche Bank and others. His speaking engagements focus on politics, digital media trends, leadership, identity, and communication in a rapidly changing cultural landscape.

Smith also regularly consults with campaigns, nonprofits, businesses, and organizations on digital media strategy, personal brand development, and audience engagement — particularly around navigating politically charged environments and cultural polarization.
