Richard Gadd

Richard Gadd is a Scottish actor, comedian, and writer known for his candid approach to personal storytelling in television and theater. Gadd studied English literature and theatre studies at the University of Glasgow before training at the Oxford School of Drama. He began his career on the Edinburgh Fringe circuit, where his autobiographical one-man shows attracted critical acclaim. His show "Waiting for Gaddot" received multiple awards, including the Scottish Comedy Award for Best Solo Show, and "Monkey See Monkey Do" earned the Edinburgh Comedy Award for Best Comedy Show. Gadd's willingness to address personal experiences, including trauma and mental health, became a hallmark of his work.

The series received strong viewership and critical acclaim, with a high approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and recognition for its exploration of trauma, mental health, and the complexities of human relationships.

"Baby Reindeer" received multiple honors, including six Primetime Emmy Awards, two Golden Globes, a Peabody Award, and a BAFTA for Best Writer: Drama. Gadd also served as an ambassador for the We Are Survivors organization, reflecting his advocacy for survivors of abuse.

Gadd continued his work in television with the creation of "Half Man," a British six-part drama for BBC and HBO. The series, starring Gadd and Jamie Bell, examines the relationship between two men over several decades and addresses themes of toxic masculinity and repression. "Half Man" premiered as the opening series of Canneseries and was noted for its exploration of complex psychological themes.
