Ricardo Montaner

Ricardo Montaner (born Héctor Eduardo Reglero Montaner) is an Argentine-born singer, songwriter and one of the most enduring icons of Latin pop music. He grew up in Venezuela after moving there with his family at the age of six, and he later became a naturalized Venezuelan citizen. Montaner launched his career in the late 1970s and rose to prominence in the 1980s with romantic ballads that became staples across Latin America. Over a career spanning nearly five decades, he has released more than two dozen albums and has sold over 25 million records worldwide, establishing himself as one of the best-selling artists in Hispanic music.

Known for classics such as Tan Enamorados, Déjame Llorar, and Me Va a Extrañar, Montaner’s work blends heartfelt lyrics with melodic Latin pop and ballad styles. His contributions to music have been recognized with prestigious honors, including the Latin Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2016 and the ASCAP Latin Heritage Award.

Beyond his recording career, Montaner has also been a prominent figure on television, serving as a coach and mentor on talent shows like La Voz Argentina, La Voz Colombia and La Voz México. His influence extends into philanthropy: with his wife Marlene Rodríguez Miranda, he founded the La Ventana de los Cielos foundation, supporting children with special needs and other charitable causes.

Montaner is married to Marlene Rodríguez Miranda and is the father of five children, many of whom are musicians themselves—including the pop duo Mau & Ricky and singer/actress Evaluna Montaner. He continues to be active in music, media and public life, remaining a beloved and influential figure in Latin entertainment.
