Rhea Perlman

Rhea Perlman is an American actress and author known for her work in television, film, and theater. Perlman studied dramatic arts at Hunter College in New York, earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. Early in her career, she performed in off-off-Broadway theater, which contributed to her development as a performer. One of her first notable television roles was as Zena on the show "Taxi."

Perlman gained national recognition for her portrayal of Carla Tortelli on the sitcom "Cheers." She appeared in all 273 episodes of the series, alongside Ted Danson and George Wendt. Over 11 seasons, Perlman received ten Emmy Award nominations for Outstanding Supporting Actress, winning four times, and earned seven Golden Globe nominations for Best Supporting Actress in a Television Series. "Cheers" became one of the most successful sitcoms in television history, receiving 20 Emmy Awards and 95 nominations.

In addition to her television work, Perlman has appeared in films such as "Matilda," "Canadian Bacon," "The Sessions," and "Poms." She portrayed Ruth Handler in the film "Barbie." On stage, Perlman played Bertha in the West End production of "Boeing Boeing" and made her Broadway debut as Marjorie in "The Tale of the Allergist's Wife."

Perlman has also held recurring roles on television, including Annette Castellano on "The Mindy Project" and a guest appearance on the crime mystery series "Poker Face." As an author, she wrote the illustrated children's book series "Otto Undercover," which includes titles such as "Born to Drive," "Canyon Catastrophe," "Water Balloon Doom," "Toxic Taffy Takeover," "The Brink of Ex-stink-tion," and "Brain Freeze."
