Reynold Levy

Reynold Levy is a nonprofit executive, author, and consultant focused on philanthropy, cultural institutions, and public service.

Levy previously served as president of the Robin Hood Foundation, where he helped launch the “Start by Asking” initiative, a data-driven campaign using behavioral science, community partnerships, and cross-sector collaboration to connect low-income New Yorkers with critical income-support programs.

He completed a 13-year tenure as president of Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts, overseeing a $1.2 billion campus transformation that modernized public spaces, infrastructure, and performance facilities while supporting the center’s 11 resident arts and education organizations.

Earlier in his career, Levy served as president of the International Rescue Committee, led government relations for AT&T Inc., and directed the AT&T Foundation. He also held leadership roles as executive director of the 92nd Street Y and as staff director of the New York City Fiscal Crisis Task Force.

Levy is the author of several books on leadership, philanthropy, and public policy, including the They Told Me Not to Take That Job: Tumult, Betrayal, Heroics and the Transformation of Lincoln Center, a New York Times best seller. His other works include Nearing the Crossroads, Give and Take, and Yours for the Asking. He writes and speaks frequently on nonprofit management, humanitarian issues, and the arts.

He has served as a consultant and senior advisor to nonprofit and private organizations, including the private equity firm General Atlantic, and has taught nonprofit management, law, and political science at institutions including Harvard Business School.

Levy is a graduate of Hobart and William Smith Colleges and holds a master’s degree, PhD, and law degree from the University of Virginia and Columbia Law School. He has received multiple honorary degrees and leadership awards for his contributions to philanthropy and the arts.
