Reynaldo Passanezi

Reynaldo Passanezi is an economist and executive whose career spans the energy, financial, and public sectors across Latin America. He holds a graduate degree and a Ph.D. in economics from University of São Paulo, a master's degree in economics from University of Campinas, an undergraduate degree in law from Pontifical Catholic University of São Paulo, and a specialization in management, leadership and innovation from Stanford University.

Passanezi Filho has held executive positions in the electricity sector, the financial sector, and the public sector, with significant involvement in privatization programs. He served as country manager Brazil and managing director of corporate and investment banking at BBVA, and previously as a financial advisor and member of the São Paulo Privatisation Committee at the São Paulo State Government. He later served as chief financial officer and investor relations officer at Companhia de Transmissão Elétrica Paulista before becoming the company's president. During his tenure, Passanezi Filho played a key role in extending a favorable concession agreement for an additional 30 years and led the company through strategies focused on operational efficiency and financial discipline.

Companhia Energética de Minas Gerais appointed Passanezi Filho as chief executive officer, marking a new chapter for one of Brazil's largest integrated energy utilities. CEMIG plays a significant role in Brazil's power generation, transmission, and distribution. Passanezi Filho brings experience in corporate restructuring, mergers and acquisitions, and infrastructure management in Latin America to the role, supporting the company's growth strategy.

Under his leadership, CEMIG has pursued a strategic vision centered on clean energy and modernization. The company is executing a multibillion-real investment plan, prioritizing power distribution and shifting from network expansion to digitalization to improve the consumer experience. Passanezi Filho has overseen the largest investment plan in the company's history, focusing on customer service improvement and contributing to the decarbonization of the Brazilian economy through clean and renewable energy. The company's commitment to sustainable practices has earned it recognition in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index World.

In addition to his operational roles, Passanezi Filho is recognized for his expertise in energy, sustainability, macroeconomics, and leadership. He serves on the board of Transmissora Aliança de Energia Elétrica SA and is a member of the Brazilian Bar Association. His multidisciplinary background, combining academic training in economics and law with executive leadership across public and private sectors, positions him as an authoritative voice on energy infrastructure in Brazil and Latin America.
