Regine Velasquez

Regine Velasquez is a renowned Filipino singer, actress, record producer, and television host. Affectionately known as "Asia's Songbird," she is celebrated for her expansive vocal range and powerful belting technique.

Growing up in a musically inclined family, Velasquez developed an early interest in singing. At the age of six, she began participating in amateur singing contests, and by 14, she had won the national television talent show Ang Bagong Kampeon in 1984. Her victory in the Asia Pacific Singing Contest in 1989 further propelled her into the spotlight, earning her widespread recognition across Asia.

Velasquez's debut studio album, Regine, was released in 1987 under Viva Records. She gained international acclaim with her fifth album, Listen Without Prejudice (1994), which sold over 700,000 copies and featured the hit single "In Love with You". Her 1999 album, R2K, became the highest-selling album by a female artist in the Philippines, achieving twelve-times platinum certification. In 2024, she released her eighteenth studio album, Reginified, showcasing remakes of songs she previously performed in concerts and television appearances.

Beyond music, Velasquez has made significant contributions to film and television. She starred in movies such as Paano Kita Iibigin and lent her voice to the animated film Urduja. On television, she has appeared in series like Forever in My Heart and Diva, and served as a judge on talent shows including StarStruck and Idol Philippines.

Velasquez is married to fellow Filipino singer-songwriter Ogie Alcasid, and they have one child together. In 2018, she transitioned from GMA Network to ABS-CBN, where she became a regular performer on the variety show ASAP and a host on Magandang Buhay.
