Rebecca Yarros is a New York Times, USA Today, Wall Street Journal, and Sunday Times bestselling author known for her contributions to fantasy fiction, contemporary romance, and military romance. Yarros is the author of more than 20 novels, including "Fourth Wing" and "In the Likely Event." Before gaining widespread recognition with "Fourth Wing," Yarros developed a readership through her contemporary military romance series, including "Flight & Glory" and "The Raven." Her novel "The Last Letter" was named by Kirkus Reviews as one of the best books of the year. She received the Colorado Romance Writer's Award of Excellence in New Adult for "Eyes Turned Skyward" from the "Flight & Glory" series and the Alex Award from the American Library Association.

Yarros expanded her reach in the fantasy genre with the Empyrean series. The first book, "Fourth Wing," published by Red Tower Books, follows Violet Sorrengail as she is compelled to join Basgiath War College and become a dragon rider in the kingdom of Navarre. The Empyrean series is being adapted for television by Amazon MGM Studios and Outlier Society, with Yarros serving as a non-writing executive producer.

Yarros's writing is influenced by her personal experiences with chronic illness, including Ehlers-Danlos syndrome and postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. These experiences inform her creation of characters with chronic illnesses, such as Violet Sorrengail in the "Fourth Wing" series, contributing to representation in mainstream fantasy literature. Her perspective as a military spouse also adds authenticity to her narratives, as she began writing while her husband was deployed with the U.S. Army.

In addition to her literary work, Yarros is active in child advocacy. She co-founded the nonprofit organization One October, which focuses on supporting children in the foster care system, and serves as its president.
