
Rebecca Hall is an English actress and filmmaker known for her work across film, television, and stage. The daughter of stage director Peter Hall and opera singer Maria Ewing, Hall was introduced to the performing arts at an early age. She made her first onscreen appearance at age 10 in the television adaptation of "The Camomile Lawn," directed by her father. Hall studied English literature at Cambridge University and participated in student theater before pursuing a professional acting career. Her stage debut in "Mrs. Warren's Profession" earned her the Ian Charleson Award.
Hall transitioned to film with her feature debut in "Starter for Ten," followed by a breakthrough role in Christopher Nolan's thriller "The Prestige." She gained further recognition in "Vicky Cristina Barcelona," which earned her a Golden Globe nomination for Best Actress. She also appeared as psychologist Elizabeth Holloway Marston in "Professor Marston and the Wonder Women" and starred in and co-executive produced the psychological thriller "The Night House." On stage, Hall made her Broadway debut in the Roundabout Theatre Company's revival of Sophie Treadwell's "Machinal," earning the Outstanding Actress in a Play award from the Outer Critics Circle and the Outstanding Broadway Debut Performance award from the Theatre World Awards.
Hall expanded her career into filmmaking by writing, directing, and co-producing "Passing," a period drama adapted from Nella Larsen's novel. The film premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and received critical acclaim, earning Hall nominations from BAFTA for Outstanding British Film and Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director, or Producer, as well as a nomination from the Directors Guild of America for Outstanding Directorial Achievement in a First-Time Feature Film. She also won the Black Reel Award for Outstanding Screenplay for the project. Hall has appeared in the MonsterVerse films "Godzilla vs. Kong" and "Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire." Her career spans stage productions, television dramas, Hollywood films, and directing, establishing Hall as a prominent figure in the entertainment industry.
