Ramon Sosa

Ramon Sosa is a former professional boxer, boxing trainer, author, and public speaker whose life story has drawn international attention. Sosa competed in more than 100 amateur boxing matches before relocating to Texas, where he launched his professional boxing career. Known in the ring as the Puerto Rican Express, Sosa established himself as a prominent boxing trainer in southeast Texas, coaching both professional athletes and Olympic hopefuls.

After retiring from professional boxing, Sosa founded Young Prospects Boxing, a nonprofit organization focused on training amateur and professional boxers. He later opened Woodlands Boxing and Fitness in Houston, Texas, earning recognition as a business owner and a respected member of the local athletic community.

Sosa's life gained widespread media coverage when he collaborated with law enforcement to fake his own murder after his estranged wife attempted to hire a hitman, who was actually an undercover officer. The case resulted in a conviction for solicitation of capital murder and a 20-year prison sentence. Sosa's story was featured by ESPN E60, ID Discovery, CBS 48 Hours, Crime Watch Daily, Fuji TV in Japan, Univision, Telemundo, and Inside Edition, as well as in the television episodes "American Monster: Dance With Me" and "48 Hours: Dead Ringer."

Sosa chronicled his experience in the book "I Walked On My Grave… a true crime story," aiming to raise awareness about the warning signs of abusive relationships and the challenges faced by victims. He has shared his story at events such as the Los Angeles Times Festival of Books, using his platform to educate and support others.

As a public speaker, Sosa addresses audiences in the United States and Europe, focusing on topics including domestic abuse, personal safety, and resilience. His presentations draw on his background in boxing, his business experience, and his personal journey, offering insight into overcoming adversity and recognizing the signs of abuse.
