Rahaf Khatib Biography
Rahaf Khatib is a stay-at-home mom of three, an 11-time marathon and 35-time half-marathon runner, a 2-time Sprint triathlete, the first Syrian to complete the Abbott World Marathon Majors, and was a top ten finalist in the 2015 Runner's World cover search contest.
Khatib has appeared in various news outlets, including CNN, for raising $16,000 for Syrian refugees; $6,000 for Brain Cancer in honor of her dear Father while training for the London Marathon; and $10,000 for Palestinian refugees in Jerusalem. Khatib has been published in magazines such as Strong Fitness Magazine, Runner's World, New Balance’s fall catalog, Vogue Arabia, Times Weekly, and Women’s Health Magazine. She made headlines when she graced the cover of Women’s Running Magazine in October of 2016 as the first hijabi to appear on the cover of a fitness magazine.
Khatib uses her running to empower the community through advocating for healthy living while organizing local runs. She co-created the Adidas hijab, voted “Best health and Fitness account” by Buzzfeed news, and coached Girls on the Run in Michigan. Khatib is a Level 1 RRCA-certified running coach as well as a TEDx speaker.
