Quin Snyder is a professional basketball coach known for his extensive experience as both a player and coach, as well as his academic background. After being named a McDonald's All-American in high school, Snyder played college basketball for the Duke Blue Devils. At Duke University, he served as a point guard and team captain, leading the Blue Devils to multiple Final Four appearances. Snyder was recognized as an Academic All-American and graduated with a double major in philosophy and political science, later earning a J.D. from Duke Law School and an M.B.A. from the Duke Fuqua School of Business.
Snyder began his coaching career as an assistant under Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, contributing to the team's NCAA tournament championship rounds and Elite Eight appearances. He later became head coach of the University of Missouri Tigers men's basketball team, guiding the Tigers to four consecutive NCAA tournament berths, including an Elite Eight appearance, and was named Rookie Coach of the Year by Basketball Times. Snyder then served as head coach of the Austin Toros in the NBA G League, where he led the team to three straight playoff appearances and a National Basketball Development League championship game, earning D-League Coach of the Year honors. During his tenure in Austin, Snyder compiled more wins and helped more players reach the NBA than any other coach in the league.
Snyder's NBA coaching career advanced when he was hired as head coach of the Utah Jazz. He led the Jazz to six playoff appearances in eight seasons, achieving a 372-264 record and guiding the team to the best regular-season record in the NBA during one campaign. Snyder was named head coach of the Western Conference All-Star Team and was a finalist for NBA Coach of the Year. His leadership contributed to the Jazz maintaining one of the highest winning percentages in the league.
Snyder later became head coach of the Atlanta Hawks, where he has been recognized for his commitment to player development and team culture. Under his guidance, players such as Jalen Johnson, Nickeil Alexander-Walker, Onyeka Okongwu, and Dyson Daniels achieved career-best seasons. Snyder is the only coach in league history to oversee consecutive Most Improved Player award winners. He led the Hawks to their highest win total in several seasons and became the 41st coach in NBA history—and the sixth active NBA coach—to reach 500 career wins. Snyder's tenure with the Hawks has been marked by a focus on player development, team performance, and organizational stability in the NBA coaching landscape.
