
Quentin Hardy is a technology journalist and media executive who serves as head of editorial at Google Cloud, where he covers the intersection of business, behavior, and technology with a focus on cloud computing. In this capacity, Hardy writes about the technology and impact of cloud computing for both Google and external publications. He also authors "The Speed Read," a column that examines key themes and topics in cloud computing.
Hardy's journalism career includes roles at major media outlets. He was deputy technology editor for The New York Times and executive editor for Forbes Media. As the Silicon Valley bureau chief for Forbes magazine, Hardy reported on technology trends and industry developments. Prior to Forbes, he spent eight years at The Wall Street Journal, reporting from the Tokyo bureau on the Japanese banking crisis and market collapse, and later covering the wireless industry and Silicon Valley culture from the San Francisco office. His work includes cover stories on the internet, Africa, finance, enterprise hardware and software, management, satellites, energy, and the marijuana industry.
Hardy has interviewed entrepreneurs, CEOs, and political leaders, and is a frequent guest on CNBC's "Kudlow & Company." Hardy is a recipient of a Knight-Bagehot Fellowship in business journalism and an Overseas Press Club award. He lectures on technology and social change at the Information School of the University of California, Berkeley, and works with the executive education program. His seminars at UC Berkeley's School of Information focus on communication technology, storytelling, and identity. Hardy holds an AB in English from Kenyon College and a master's degree in area studies from the University of London, and received a Knight-Bagehot Fellowship from the Columbia University School of Journalism.
