Punkie Johnson

Punkie Johnson is a comedian, actress, and writer known for her work in stand-up comedy, television, and film. Johnson began her career as a stand-up comedian and later became a paid regular at The Comedy Store in Los Angeles. She gained early recognition as a New Face at the Just for Laughs Festival and built her profile with appearances on "Space Force" on Netflix, "A Black Lady Sketch Show" on HBO, and "Bill Burr Presents: The Ringers" on Comedy Central.

Johnson joined "Saturday Night Live" as the first out Black lesbian cast member and was later promoted to repertory status. Her tenure on the show was marked by a bold, personal perspective that contributed to the series' ongoing legacy in sketch comedy. Johnson has also appeared on season two of HBO Max's "Love Life," served as a writer and consultant for Peacock's "Queer as Folk" reboot, and acted in Orion's "Bottoms" opposite Ayo Edebiri. Additional credits include a recurring role in "The Chi" on Showtime and an appearance in the film "Roofman" opposite Channing Tatum, directed by Derek Cianfrance.
