Priscilla Sims Brown

Priscilla Sims Brown is president and chief executive officer of Amalgamated Bank, a full-service bank, lender, and investment manager recognized for its commitment to advancing social change. Amalgamated Financial Corp., the holding company for the bank, is the first publicly traded financial institution to operate as a public benefit corporation. Brown is among a small number of Black chief executives in the banking industry, and her leadership at Amalgamated Bank reflects a career focused on values-based banking and financial services.

Brown has more than 30 years of experience in the financial services sector, with leadership roles spanning banking, wealth management, retirement, and insurance. During her 18-year tenure at Lincoln Financial Group, she integrated acquired companies, established new business lines, and led the consumer brand. At Sun Life, Brown served as chief marketing officer and chief strategist, where she negotiated and managed Sun Life Stadium naming rights and major events with the Miami Dolphins. Prior to joining Amalgamated Bank, she was group executive for marketing and corporate affairs at Commonwealth Bank of Australia, overseeing marketing, branding, stakeholder insights, government and public affairs, and environmental and social policy.

At Amalgamated Bank, Brown has advocated for the idea that financial institutions can be both profitable and principled. Under her leadership, the bank set science-based targets to achieve net zero emissions by 2045. Brown guides Amalgamated Bank in championing social responsibility through values-based banking, customer-focused services, and mission-driven lending, serving individuals and organizations such as climate groups, foundations, labor unions, advocacy groups, political campaigns, and socially responsible businesses. More than 60 percent of the bank's lending and select balance sheet investments are directed toward affordable housing, nonprofits, and climate solutions.

Brown's advocacy includes issues such as gun safety, voting rights, climate safety, and racial equity. She has been recognized by American Banker as one of the Most Powerful Women in Banking and featured in The New York Times, TIME Magazine, and PBS. Brown has also been listed in Forbes' "50 Over 50" and named one of American Banker's "Most Powerful Women to Watch." She was included among the Most Influential Executives in Corporate America by Savoy and received a Torch Lighter Award from the Rutgers Institute for Women's Leadership.

In addition to her executive responsibilities, Brown is active in civic and philanthropic initiatives. She served on the board of trustees of Teachers Insurance and Annuity Association of America, a Fortune 100 financial services firm, where she participated in investment, nominating and governance, and social responsibility committees, as well as trustee and CEO selection subcommittees. Brown is also a member of the International Women's Forum and the Executive Leadership Council. Her career demonstrates the impact of purpose-driven leadership in the financial industry.
