Praveen Chakravarty

Praveen Chakravarty is a politician and a public intellectual, formerly a think tank scholar, angel investor and a banker. With an extensive background in politics, technology, and finance, holds a number of influential roles in India's political landscape. As the President of the All India Professionals Congress since 15 November 2023, Chakravarty took over the chair from Shashi Tharoor. His leadership also extends to the Data Analytics department of the Indian National Congress, where he serves as Chairman. Chakravarty played a key role in the creation of the SHAKTI project, an initiative aimed at modernizing the Congress party.

In his political involvement, Chakravarty has worked closely with notable figures. He co-drafted the NYAY scheme for the Indian National Congress' 2019 election manifesto alongside Nobel Laureate Prof. Abhijit Banerjee. His commitment to maintaining democratic protocols is evident in his role as a member of the Empowered Action Group of Leaders and Experts (EAGLE), an organization established to oversee the conduct of free and fair elections by the Election Commission of India.

Prior to his political career, Chakravarty's professional journey spanned across various sectors. He began his career at IBM in Japan, later transitioning to Microsoft. His entrepreneurial spirit led him to become an angel investor, ranking among the top five in India. Chakravarty's intellect and insights have been shared through his contributions to BloombergQuint's column "Noise To Signal" and co-authored articles with former Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and former Finance Minister P. Chidambaram.
