Prakhar Mehrotra

Prakhar Mehrotra is a global artificial intelligence executive and technology strategist known for building and scaling AI platforms across finance, retail, mobility, and private equity. He serves as Senior Vice President and Global Head of AI at PayPal, where he leads enterprise-wide AI strategy, innovation, and deployment across products and operations.

He is an elected member of Roundtable on AI at the US National Academies of Science (NAS) serving a two-year term from Feb 2025 - Feb 2027.

Previously, Mehrotra held senior leadership roles including Managing Director and Head of AI at Blackstone and Head of Applied AI at Walmart U.S., where he led advanced analytics initiatives that earned the Franz Edelman Prize for supply-chain optimization. He has also held key AI leadership roles at Uber and began his career as a data scientist at Twitter.

A two-time Edelman Laureate, Mehrotra is widely recognized for his impact on applied machine learning and large-scale business transformation. He serves on the AI Roundtable at the U.S. National Academies of Sciences and contributes to the broader AI research community through advisory and review roles.

Mehrotra holds a Ph.D. in Aeronautics from the California Institute of Technology, along with graduate degrees from École Polytechnique in Paris, combining deep technical expertise with executive leadership in enterprise AI.
