Phish

Phish is an influential and successful improvisational rock band. Featuring Trey Anastasio, Page McConnell, Mike Gordon and Jon Fishman, Phish has spent more than 40 years redefining the concert experience through improvisation, musical exploration and one of the most devoted fan communities in modern music.

Formed in 1983 at the University of Vermont, the band consists of Trey Anastasio (guitar, vocals), Page McConnell (keyboards, vocals), Mike Gordon (bass, vocals) and Jon Fishman (drums, vocals). Known for their genre-blending sound, the quartet draws from rock, jazz, funk, bluegrass, folk and psychedelic music while building a reputation for lengthy improvisational jams and ever-changing live performances.

Rather than pursuing mainstream radio success, Phish cultivated a devoted fan community through relentless touring, unique festivals and a fiercely independent approach to the music business. Their concerts are famous for unpredictable setlists, extended musical exploration and a culture that encourages fans to follow multiple shows on a tour. The band's influence on the modern jam-band scene is often compared to that of the Grateful Dead.

After two hiatuses (2000-02 and 2004-09), Phish reunited in 2009 and entered one of the most successful periods of its career. The band continues to headline major tours, festivals and multi-night residencies while maintaining its original lineup more than four decades after its formation. Their 16th studio album, Evolve, was released in 2024, and the band was nominated for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame for the first time in 2025.

In 2026, Phish continued pushing the boundaries of live performance with a nine-show residency at the Sphere in Las Vegas, featuring no repeated songs across the entire run and innovative visual technology that drew widespread acclaim. The band also remained active on tour and released archival live recordings, reinforcing its status as one of the premier live acts in music.
