Peter Sagal is a humorist, writer, and host of National Public Radio game show Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me! And the PBS special Constitution USA with Peter Sagal.
As the host of National Public Radios Wait Wait Dont Tell Me!, Peter Sagal is heard by more than 3 million people every week, broadcast on 520 public radio stations nationwide and via a popular podcast. The hour long show has captivated news junkies across the country with its lighthearted approach to current events. The show brough Sagal to Chicago in 1998 where he took the show to the next level and is now recorded in front of a live studio audience.
Sagal has traveled all around the country with Wait, Wait, playing to sold-out theaters from Seattle to Miami. At the podium, Sagal takes audiences behind the scenes of Wait, Wait to explore the shows beginnings, some of its more memorable moments and a look at todays news stories. An adept moderator, Sagal is the perfect emcee, able to apply his quick wit to esoteric company stories, weaving jokes for an uproarious and unforgettable evening. Whether providing insightful, colorful commentary on current events or a behind-the-scenes peek at the funniest show on radio, Sagal never fails to inform and entertain.
In Spring 2013 Sagal hosted a PBS special series, Constitution USA with Peter Sagal. On the show, he traveled across the country on a Harley Davidson to find out where the Constitution lives, how it works, its history and its vital relevance today.
Sagal's first book, The Book of Vice (Naughty Things and How to Do Them), is a series of comic essays about people who misbehave, why they misbehave, and why they’re not necessarily having more fun than you are. Sagal has written two other books, The Wait Album: More of the Best and The Incomplete Book of Running, the later of which pays tribute to his passion for long-distance running. Sagal has run a total of 14 marathons including four Boston Marathons, four Chicago Marathons, the New York City Marathon, the Philadelphia Marathon, and the Twin Cities Marathon.
Sagal graduated from Harvard University and explored several occupations, including theater and writing, before following his journalism path. He has several playwrights that have been performed in theaters across the United States as well as several screenplays. He wrote for several television shows including his own Wait Wait... Don't Tell Me! television movie and Constitution USA with Peter Sagal.
