Peter Hunnigale

Peter Hunnigale, known professionally as Mr. Honey Vibes, is a British reggae singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist recognized for his contributions to UK reggae music. Hunnigale is noted for his work in lovers rock and conscious roots reggae, as well as his discomixes, establishing a career that spans more than four decades.

Hunnigale began his musical journey playing bass with the Vibes Corner Collective, which included Barrington Levine, Jimmy Simpson, Ray Simpson, and Fitzroy Blake. His debut as a singer, "Slipping Away," was followed by "Got To Know You" on the Street Vibes label, a label he co-founded with Fitzroy Blake. Hunnigale achieved chart success with "Be My Lady," followed by his debut album, "In This Time," which reached the top position in the UK reggae album charts.

Throughout his career, Hunnigale has received several awards, including Best Newcomer, Best Reggae Vocalist of the Year, and recognition from the Black Music Association Awards. He was honored with the MOBO Award for Best Reggae Album. Inspired by the popularity of combination hits from Jamaica, Hunnigale collaborated with Tippa Irie on "Raggamuffin Girl," which reached number one in the UK reggae charts and was named Best British Reggae Record by Echoes newspaper. This collaboration led to further projects with Irie, including the albums "The New Decade" on Island Records and "Done Cook and Currie" for Rebel MC's Tribal Base label.

Hunnigale's discography includes "Mr. Government," released on Ariwa Sounds, and a collaboration with Crucial Robbie on a version of Desmond Dekker's "007." He also worked with Jamaican producer Gussie Clarke, resulting in "Love Like This." Hunnigale achieved further chart success when his single "Baby Please" replaced his own production, "Perfect Lady," at the number one spot in the reggae chart.

Demonstrating versatility, Hunnigale performed in the reggae musical Johnny Dollar and established the Street Vibes label, supporting other artists as a co-writer and producer. Hunnigale's influence on UK reggae, particularly in lovers rock and roots reggae, has established him as a significant figure in the genre.
