Pearlena Igbokwe

Pearlena Igbokwe has been a key figure in the television industry, holding several notable positions within Universal Studio Group and NBC Entertainment. As the Chairman of Universal Studio Group, Igbokwe oversaw Universal Television, Universal Content Productions (UCP), Universal International Studios, and Universal Television Alternative Studio. Her tenure in this position, from June 2016 to September 2020, was marked by the active production of over 40 shows. In 2020, Igbokwe was promoted to the role of Chairman, Universal Studio Group. Five years later, her responsibilities expanded to include NBC Entertainment as she ascended to the position of Chairman, Television Studios, NBC Entertainment & Peacock Scripted.

With the broadening of her responsibilities, Igbokwe took charge of all scripted and unscripted content, late-night shows, live events, and specials for NBC Entertainment and Peacock. Her leadership is instrumental in the success of programs including "Saturday Night Live," "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," and the "Law & Order" series. Under Igbokwe, Universal Studio Group boasted #1 shows on numerous platforms, ranging from Netflix and Amazon to Apple, Peacock, and Hulu.

Throughout her career, Igbokwe has been a staunch supporter of prominent storytellers such as Michael Schur, Tina Fey, and Jordan Peele. She served as Chairman of USG from 2020 and played a significant role in the production of over 3,000 hours of programming globally across the studios under her leadership. Igbokwe's career is noteworthy for her being the first woman of African descent to head a major U.S. television studio and for her role in developing successful NBC Entertainment series such as "The Blacklist" and "This Is Us."

Igbokwe has a bachelor of arts degree from Yale University and an MBA from Columbia University. She was born in Nigeria and resides in Los Angeles with her husband and two children.
