Paul Liberman

Paul Liberman is a technology entrepreneur and co-founder of DraftKings, a digital sports entertainment and gaming company that has influenced how fans engage with sports. Liberman holds a degree in electrical engineering with a minor in computer science from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. Before launching DraftKings, he worked as an application engineer at Analog Devices and later advanced to senior manager of strategy and analytics at VistaPrint. At VistaPrint, Liberman met his future co-founders, Jason Robins and Matt Kalish, which led to the founding of DraftKings, a significant startup in the sports technology sector.

Liberman and his co-founders started DraftKings in his spare bedroom in Watertown, Massachusetts, pooling $25,000 and building the platform during nights and weekends before transitioning to full-time. The company attracted thousands of customers in its initial months and secured $1 million in venture capital from Atlas Venture after demonstrating proof of concept. DraftKings later became a publicly traded company on Nasdaq, achieving a valuation exceeding $14 billion, leading the online gaming market and becoming the only U.S.-based vertically integrated sports betting operator.

During DraftKings' growth, Liberman held several executive roles, including chief technology officer, chief marketing officer, chief operating officer, and president of operations. In these positions, he contributed to the development of platforms such as the "DraftKings Daily Fantasy Sports" app, "DK Live and Leagues," and the "DraftKings Sportsbook." DraftKings established official partnerships with major sports leagues, including the NFL, NHL, NBA, MLB, PGA TOUR, WNBA, and NASCAR, reinforcing its presence in the sports entertainment industry.

Liberman's data-driven approach has guided his leadership across multiple functions. He has been recognized for his contributions to Boston's business community, earning a place on the Boston Business Journal "40 Under 40" list. Liberman represented DraftKings at the Milken Institute Global Conference, participating in a panel on decision intelligence and discussing the intersection of data analytics and artificial intelligence with a global audience. Newsweek named DraftKings one of America's Greatest Companies, a recognition Liberman has referenced as an indicator of the company's progress since its inception.
