Patrick Nelson

Patrick Nelson is a combat-wounded veteran, keynote speaker, and the founder and CEO of Loyalty Point Leadership. With nearly seven years of service in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper, including three combat deployments, Nelson has received honors such as the Bronze Star Medal and the Purple Heart Medal. He brings extensive leadership experience to his facilitation of programs for a range of clients, including Fortune 500 corporations and small businesses.

Nelson's early life included significant challenges, including exposure to drugs in his home and witnessing his mother's arrest. He left college two days after 9/11 and experienced the loss of fellow soldiers in combat. These experiences have shaped his approach to resilience, adaptability, and leadership.

During his military service, Nelson faced a pivotal moment when a leadership failure resulted in the loss of a soldier under his command. This event had a lasting impact on his sense of purpose and commitment to leadership development. While still deployed, Nelson began taking college courses to prepare for his transition to civilian life. He became the inaugural NFL-Pat Tillman Military Scholar and later worked in football operations with the Minnesota Vikings. Nelson earned a bachelor's degree, graduating magna cum laude, from Minnesota State University, as well as a master's degree in sport management from Minnesota State and a master's in organization development from Pepperdine University.

After working with a leadership consulting firm, Nelson launched Loyalty Point Leadership, where he provides leadership consulting, safety leadership strategies, and keynote speaking services. He shares insights and actionable strategies to help organizations eliminate complacency and drive engagement at all levels. Nelson's safety leadership approach has contributed to a 57 percent reduction in the Total Recordable Incident Rate (TRIR) for Fortune 500 organizations, offering operational leaders a framework to make safety a driver of workplace excellence.

Nelson is the author of "Front-Line Leadership: How to Eliminate Complacency and Build All-In Engagement." The book draws on his combat experience to provide practical guidance for leadership in business, academic, nonprofit, military, and government settings. Nelson has been recognized at the MLB All-Star Game as an honoree of the People Magazine "Tribute to Heroes" event. He also volunteers with Tee It Up for the Troops, supporting wounded veterans through community service.
