Patrick McHenry

Patrick McHenry served as the U.S. representative for North Carolina's 10th congressional district from 2005 to 2025. His tenure included chairing the House Financial Services Committee from 2023 to 2025, a pivotal role in shaping financial policy and regulation. McHenry also acted as Speaker pro tempore of the House for 22 days in 2023, a position he took on following the removal of Kevin McCarthy. He also played a significant role in uniting Republicans around McCarthy's speakership bid earlier that year.

McHenry's political journey includes numerous electoral victories, including a remarkable win in the 2022 general election, where he secured 72.6% of the vote. His legislative work includes supporting a rule change by the Trump administration in 2020, which allowed payday lenders not to check whether borrowers could repay high-interest loans. He was also a member of the Republican Study Committee and the Congressional NextGen 9-1-1 Caucus, demonstrating his involvement in various legislative areas. He introduced the landmark "FIT (Financial Innovation and Technology) for the 21st Century Act" and "Clarity for Payment Stablecoins Act" to create a balanced regulatory framework for cryptocurrencies and blockchain technology.

He was known as the "Baby of the House" from 2005 to 2009, an honorary title given to the youngest member of the U.S. House of Representatives.
