Patrick Lucey

Patrick Lucey holds the position of Chief Scientist at Stats Perform, where he oversees the AI team. He can boast over two decades of experience in the AI field and has held research positions at several esteemed institutions. These include Disney Research, the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University, and IBM’s T.J. Watson Research Center. His research interests primarily lie in artificial intelligence and interactive machine learning in sporting domains, as well as AI education.

Lucey's dedication to research and innovation in the AI field is evident in his extensive list of publications. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed papers, consistently contributing to the advancement of AI knowledge. His work has not gone unnoticed, as Lucey has been a co-author on papers in the MIT Sloan Best Research Paper Track for 11 of the last 13 years. His papers earned the best paper award in 2016, and was the runner-up in 2017 and 2018. His expertise has also been recognized at international conferences such as INTERSPEECH and WACV where his papers have been awarded.

Aside from his research endeavors, Lucey has also ventured into the world of academia. In his recent endeavor, he has piloted a course titled "AI in Sport". This course not only showcases his expertise in AI and its application in sports but also his commitment to AI education.
