Pato O'Ward

Patricio O'Ward is a Mexican professional racing driver recognized for his achievements in American open-wheel racing, particularly in the NTT IndyCar Series. Born in Monterrey, Mexico, O'Ward began his motorsport career in karting at age 6 before progressing to single-seater racing. He competed in junior formula categories across the Americas and Europe, including Formula Renault and Formula 4, before advancing through the Road to Indy program in the United States.

O'Ward secured victories at the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring, becoming the youngest driver to win both endurance races. He also claimed the IMSA WeatherTech SportsCar Championship in the Prototype Class and the North American Endurance Cup. His open-wheel career gained momentum with a successful stint in Indy Lights, where he won nine races, earned Rookie of the Year honors, and clinched the drivers' championship.

O'Ward made history as the first Mexican driver in years to win an IndyCar race and has consistently finished among the top competitors in the series. He has accumulated multiple pole positions, podium finishes, and race wins, including several runner-up finishes at the Indianapolis 500. O'Ward drives the No. 5 Chevrolet for Arrow McLaren and has recorded top-four finishes in the championship standings on several occasions.

In addition to his IndyCar commitments, O'Ward formerly served in the McLaren Driver Development Program and as a reserve driver for the McLaren Formula One team. He has participated in Free Practice 1 sessions at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix and Mexico City Grand Prix, gaining experience in Formula One machinery. As the only Mexican driver currently competing in the IndyCar Series, O'Ward maintains a strong connection with motorsports fans in Mexico and internationally, both at the racetrack and through digital platforms.
