Pat Shurmur Biography
Pat Shurmur currently holds the position of quarterbacks coach at the University of Colorado. His tenure in the world of American football extends back several years, with head coaching stints for the New York Giants from 2018 to 2019 and the Cleveland Browns from 2011 to 2012. His experience within the sport was further enriched when he stepped in as interim head coach for the Philadelphia Eagles at the end of the 2015 season.
Shurmur's aptitude for strategy and development is evidenced by his time as an offensive coordinator for seven seasons, which included time with the Minnesota Vikings from 2016–2017, the Philadelphia Eagles from 2013–2015, and the St. Louis Rams from 2009–2010. His prowess in this role was recognized in 2017 when he was awarded the AP NFL Assistant Coach of the Year. Moreover, Shurmur has shown specific expertise in nurturing the skills of young quarterbacks, as exemplified in his work with Nick Foles and Case Keenum.
Shurmur's offensive strategies have been critical in setting team records, most notably with the Eagles where his coaching facilitated records for points, total net yards, and touchdowns in a single season. His innovative approach also led the Eagles to an NFL record for 99 plays of 20+ yards in a single season.
