Pat Pataranutaporn

Pat Pataranutaporn, Ph.D., is a technologist and researcher at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he serves as co-director of the MIT Media Lab's Advancing Humans with AI research program. Pataranutaporn's work centers on artificial intelligence and human-computer interaction, with a focus on developing AI systems that support human flourishing in cognitive domains such as reasoning, decision-making, learning, and self-development. His research on AI-generated conversational characters has demonstrated the impacts of generative AI on education and personal growth, and his projects have been exhibited at museums and international art festivals worldwide.

Pataranutaporn's work has been published in journals and conferences including Nature Machine Intelligence, The New England Journal of Medicine AI, ACM SIGCHI, and NeurIPS.
