Paige O’Hara Biography
Paige O'Hara is an actress, singer, and painter whose most notable role is voicing Belle in Disney's 1991 animated film "Beauty and the Beast."
O'Hara's early career is rooted in musical theater. In 1983, she portrayed Ellie May Chipley in a production of "Show Boat." Her Broadway debut came in 1989 when she played Fantine in "Les Misérables." Following her role of Belle, she reprised the role in several direct-to-video sequels, including "Beauty and the Beast: The Enchanted Christmas" and "Belle's Magical World." O'Hara also made cameo appearances as Belle in "Ralph Breaks the Internet" and the short film "Once Upon a Studio."
In addition to her work in film, O'Hara has an extensive discography. She has contributed to recordings such as Jerry Herman: Mack and Mabel in Concert, Jerome Kern: Show Boat, and Loving You: Paige O'Hara Sings Jerry Herman. Her solo album, Dream With Me, was released in 1998.
Beyond her performing career, O'Hara is an accomplished painter. She has created a series of original oil paintings for Disney Fine Art, many of which depict scenes inspired by "Beauty and the Beast." Her artwork has been showcased in various galleries and is available through select art dealers.
O'Hara's contributions to Disney were recognized in 2011 when she was named a Disney Legend. She continues to engage with fans through her art and occasional appearances, maintaining a significant presence in both the performing and visual arts communities.
