Padraig McDonnell

Padraig McDonnell is the president and chief executive officer of Agilent Technologies, a global leader in analytical laboratory technologies that enable customers to bring great science to life. He assumed the role of CEO in May 2024, becoming the fourth CEO in Agilent’s history and leading the company’s strategic vision for growth, innovation, and customer‑focused solutions.

McDonnell has spent more than 25 years in the analytical‑ and scientific‑instrument industry, beginning his career at Hewlett‑Packard Co. in 1998 and rising through a series of leadership roles. Before becoming CEO, he served as president of Agilent’s CrossLab Group and as chief commercial officer, where he oversaw sales, service, marketing, and customer‑experience initiatives that strengthened Agilent’s global reach and customer value. He also led the company’s Chemistries and Supplies Division as vice president and general manager.

A champion of customer‑centric innovation and operational excellence, McDonnell is focused on advancing Agilent’s mission to deliver trusted insights and solutions that help address complex scientific challenges worldwide. He holds a Bachelor of Science from the National University of Ireland‑Maynooth, a postgraduate diploma in Chemistry and Biochemistry from the National University of Ireland‑Galway, and a postgraduate diploma in Strategy and Innovation from University College Dublin.
