Oscar and the Wolf

Oscar and the Wolf is the solo project of Belgian musician Max Colombie, known for blending indie folk, dream pop, and electronic pop. Colombie launched Oscar and the Wolf as a folk-oriented band before signing with PIAS Records and releasing the EP "Summer Skin," which introduced a dreamier, guitar-driven sound. Colombie has described the project's name as reflecting the duality in his music, balancing light and dark elements.

Oscar and the Wolf gained international recognition with the single "Orange Sky," leading to support slots for artists such as Lou Reed. The debut album "Entity," co-produced with Leo Abrahams, marked a shift toward moody electronic pop and featured tracks including "Princes," "Undress," and "Strange Entity." The album topped the Belgian charts, achieved double platinum status, and received critical attention from outlets such as Drowned in Sound and Les Inrocks. The follow-up album "Infinity" continued this electronic direction, reaching number one in Belgium with the single "Breathing" and building a strong fanbase across Europe and the Middle East, including a sold-out tour in Turkey.

Colombie's live performances have included supporting Róisín Murphy on a European tour and selling out venues such as Sportpaleis in Antwerp and Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam. After a headline slot at Pukkelpop festival, he sold out Ancienne Belgique in Brussels and Paradiso in Amsterdam within minutes. The third album, "The Shimmer," inspired by the film "Annihilation," debuted at number one in Flanders and highlighted a synth-pop style, reinforcing Colombie's presence in the Belgian pop music scene.

Colombie has continued to explore creative and personal themes in his work. The single "Warrior" became a chart-topping hit and served as the official anthem for the Belgian Red Devils at the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, addressing themes of mental health and resilience. Colombie followed with the collaborative single "All Night" with producer Maceo Plex. The album "TASTE" offered an autobiographical exploration of mental health and euphoria, peaking at number two on the Flanders Albums Chart and demonstrating Colombie's ongoing influence in pop, electronic, and indie music.
