Omar Bailey

Omar Stanley Bailey is a globally recognized footwear development pioneer and design entrepreneur who has built his career by bridging the gap between conceptual design and physically wearable, market-ready footwear. Bailey has established a reputation for translating experimental ideas into manufactured products that reach consumers.

Bailey's trajectory leaped forward when he was personally selected to lead the Yeezy/Adidas Innovation Lab from 2019 to 2022. Describing the experience as a "trampoline" for his career, he was instrumental in establishing a domestic, rapid-prototyping facility. In that role, he helped bring some of the brand's most forward-thinking and iconic silhouettes, including the Foam Runner, 450 and Knit Runner, to market, contributing significantly to a period when Yeezy's revenue grew by more than $1 billion.

In 2022, Bailey co-founded FCTRY Lab, a pioneering, BIPOC-led footwear prototyping lab and venture studio in Los Angeles. The company's mission is to democratize sneaker production and shrink the product development cycle from eight to 12 months down to one to three months using state-of-the-art additive manufacturing and 3D printing. The launch of FCTRY Lab was backed by a $6 million fundraising round, noted as one of the largest investments in a Black founder in 2022.

Recent highlights include being hand-picked, along with FCTRY Lab, to be featured in the Roku docu-series, "Visionaries," showcasing the company's revolutionary approach to the sneaker industry. The company has successfully launched and sold out its debut shoe, the Knight RNR, and continues to push design boundaries with models like the culturally inspired FCTRY MOCC.

Before and after Yeezy, Bailey cemented his reputation designing custom footwear for top-tier brands such as Adidas, Timberland, New Balance and K-Swiss and for global figures including Jay-Z, Lady Gaga, Karim Benzema, Jalen Ramsey, NLE Choppa and Terry Crews. In 2024, the NLE Choppa Duck Boot by FCTRY Lab was a viral sensation, grossing nearly $1 million in sales within its first 2 hours of launch, and was highlighted by "The Breakfast Club" and Kai Cenat as the craziest shoe of 2024.
