Oliver Stone

Oliver Stone is an Academy Award-winning director and screenwriter. He is credited with writing and directing more than 20 full-length feature films, establishing a significant presence in the film industry for his influential works in American cinema. Stone has received numerous accolades including three Academy Awards and a BAFTA Award, as well as a Primetime Emmy Award and five Golden Globe Awards.

Throughout his career, which began with writing short plays for his family, Stone has served as director, writer, and producer on a range of films, documentaries, and television movies. He is recognized for his interpretations of recent American history, often presenting perspectives that challenge conventional narratives. Notable films include "Platoon," the first of his Vietnam trilogy, along with "Born on the Fourth of July" and "Heaven and Earth," as well as "JFK," "Natural Born Killers," "Nixon," and "W." Stone joined the U.S. Merchant Marine, working in the engine room on several ships, with travels spanning Asia, Oregon, and Mexico. In Guadalajara, he began writing his first novel, a 1,400-page manuscript titled "A Child’s Night Dream," later edited and published by St. Martin’s Press. He enlisted in the United States Army, serving in the 25th Infantry Division near the Cambodian border and later in the 1st Cavalry Division in northern Vietnam. Stone was wounded twice and received a Bronze Star for heroism and a Purple Heart for his service.

Stone’s filmography includes projects such as "Wall Street," which explores themes of greed and corruption, and "The Doors," a biographical film about singer Jim Morrison.
