Ohad and Raz Ben Ami

Raz and Ohad Ben Ami are a married couple from Kibbutz Be’eri in southern Israel who survived one of the darkest chapters of October 7. They were a devoted couple, parents to three daughters, living an ordinary and loving life that was shattered in an instant. On that morning, as dawn broke, terrorists invaded the kibbutz, spreading fear and death.

Raz and Ohad were abducted from their home by Hamas terrorists during the attack. Raz spent most of her captivity alone but was reunited with Ohad before her release. Raz was held hostage in Gaza for 54 days and was released on November 29, 2023, as part of a temporary ceasefire deal. Ohad was held captive by Hamas for 491 days and was freed on February 8, 2025, after enduring harsh conditions with fellow captives. Injured during his abduction, he was frail, malnourished, and exhausted upon release but survived.

Raz and Ohad have publicly shared their experiences of captivity in Israel and abroad, emphasizing the urgent need to bring remaining hostages home. Their testimony resonates with trauma yet embodies a steadfast belief that love can prevail over adversity. After enduring separation, fear, and uncertainty, Ohad and Raz chose to remarry, not out of necessity, but as a renewal to reclaim what was lost and to reaffirm their commitment to each other. In a world that had shown them its darkest side, they answered with light. Their remarriage became a symbol of resilience, of a love that refuses to break, and of a future they insist on rebuilding together.
