Oasis

Oasis is a British rock band formed in Manchester, England, recognized for its significant influence on the Britpop movement and popular music. The band originated as the Rain, with guitarist Paul Arthurs, singer Chris Hutton, drummer Tony McCarroll, and bassist Paul McGuigan. After Hutton was replaced by Liam Gallagher, the group adopted the name Oasis, and Noel Gallagher soon joined as lead guitarist, vocalist, and principal songwriter.

Oasis gained widespread attention with the release of "Definitely Maybe," which debuted at number one on the UK Albums Chart and became the fastest-selling debut album in UK history at the time. The band's sound, shaped by Noel Gallagher's songwriting and Liam Gallagher's vocal style, drew on influences from the Rolling Stones, the Who, the Kinks, and the Beatles. Their second album, "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?," featured songs such as "Wonderwall," "Don't Look Back in Anger," and "Champagne Supernova," establishing Oasis as a global presence in rock music. The band's concerts at Knebworth attracted 125,000 attendees per show and are often cited as a defining moment of the Britpop era.

All seven of Oasis's studio albums reached number one on the UK Albums Chart. The band sold over 100 million records worldwide, placing them among the best-selling music artists. Oasis achieved 22 consecutive UK top 10 hits and was recognized by Guinness World Records as the most successful act in the United Kingdom between 1995 and 2005. Albums such as "Don't Believe the Truth" and "Dig Out Your Soul" continued their commercial success.

Oasis disbanded following an altercation between Liam and Noel Gallagher backstage at the Rock en Seine festival in Paris. After the split, Liam Gallagher and the remaining members formed Beady Eye, while Noel Gallagher established Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds. The band's legacy endures through its impact on rock music, Britpop, and popular culture.
