Noah Wyle was born on June 4th, 1971 in Hollywood, California. He is the middle of three children born to Marjorie (a registered nurse) and Stephen Wyle (an electrical engineer and entrepreneur). Noah’s father was Jewish, while his mother was Episcopalian, and he was raised “fairly nondenominationally”. In the late 1970’s, Noah’s parents divorced and his mother later married James C. Katz (a film restorationist) with three children of his own. Frank and Edith Wyle, Noah’s grandparents, founded the Los Angeles Craft and Folk Art Museum. Edith Wyle was an expressionist painter who also created The Egg and The Eye, an innovative café and shop on Wilshire Boulevard in the Miracle Mile district of Los Angeles, which soon became the preferred hangout for artists, travelers and dreamers. Noah Wyle attended The Thacher School in Ojai, California and graduated in 1999. After his junior year of high school Noah participated in the theater arts program at Northwestern University. In high school he appeared in all of the plays, Noah also won an award for a play he wrote. After graduating, Noah lived in a small apartment on Hollywood Boulevard while he studied acting with teacher Larry Moss.
Noah’s first professional role came in the film Lust For Dust where he played an extra. 5 years later, Noah Wyle played the role of Eric in the television movie Blind Faith. From there his roles became more frequent with Crooked Hearts in 1991, A Few Good Men in 1992 and Swing Kids in 1993. In 1994, Noah played the role of Lancelot in the made for television movie Guinevere and appeared as Finnegan in the movie There Goes My Baby. However, his big break also came in the year 1994 when Noah was cast as John Carter in the new NBC series ER which also starred actors such as Anthony Edwards, George Clooney, Eriq La Salle and Julianna Margulies. In March 1999, Noah Wyle announced his engagement to make-up artist Tracy Warbin. In 2002, Noah and Tracy welcomed their fist child Owen Strausser Wyle.
However, in 2004 Noah Wyle originated the role of Flynn Carsen in the made for television movie series The Librarian. The movie series which aired on TNT starred Noah Wyle in the role of a librarian sent to hunt down artifacts. The movies also star Bob Newhart as Judson. Also during 2004 Noah Wyle announced his plans to leave ER after ten years on the series in order to make room for the upcoming generation. Following his first The Librarian film and leaving ER, Noah starred in two more The Librarian films with Return to King Solomon’s Mines in 2006 and The Curse of the Judas Chalice in 2008. Also during this time Noah appeared in the films The Californians (2005) and W. (2008). Along with new roles in his career, during this time Noah welcomed his second child with wife Tracy Auden Wyle in 2005. However, in 2009 Noah and his wife Tracy announced their separation.
Noah later returned to ER after announcing his departure for three episodes in 2006 and then appeared in the final season during 2009. Since his time in ER ended in 2009 Noah has appeared in films Below the Beltway (2010) and Queen of the Lot (2010). In 2011, Noah Wyle returned to a starring role in television by taking on the role of Tom Mason in the television series Falling Skies. The show is set on earth after an alien invasion, Tom Mason (Noah Wyle) once a professor is now fighting to protect his family as a part of a resistance group The 2nd Mass. Falling Skies is created by Steven Spielberg and airs on the cable network TNT. Along with the return of Falling Skies in 2013, Noah also is slated to appeared in the film Snake and Mongoose and the television mini-series To Appomattox.
