Nikos Georgópoulos is a Greek-British art director, writer, model, and singer recognized for creating narrative-driven work that combines fiction and surrealist storytelling. Georgópoulos gained attention in the design industry through a collaboration with photographer Polly Brown on a trilogy of fictional projects titled "Time Travel Branding." The first project, "Xenia," premiered at ATypI in New York and received positive reviews from critics and the press, who noted the project's inventive universe. This story-first approach to design has defined Georgópoulos's career in creative direction and branding.
Before establishing his own agency, Georgópoulos spent a decade in London as an art director for Frieze Art Fair and Fashion Space Gallery. He taught branding at London College of Communication and served as the first Head of Graphics at Pollard Thomas Edwards, overseeing the brand narrative of Eastman Village. Georgópoulos also worked as creative director of "Moments" magazine for the Greek newspaper To Vima and played a key role in relaunching the visual tone of OZON magazine. Earlier in his career, he worked in-house as a graphic designer, advocating for innovative ideas and ultimately choosing to pursue independent creative projects.
Georgópoulos branded Greece's first coliving brand as an imaginary country and launched East London's largest urban regeneration project as a festival of electronic music. He later founded Marlon Tate, a branding agency with offices in Athens and London, and fictional locations on Jupiter and Mars. Marlon Tate is known for developing narrative-driven brand identities and advertising campaigns that integrate fiction and surrealist storytelling. The agency has produced advertising campaigns, websites, music videos, and brand identities for clients such as Frieze Art Fair, Fashion Space Gallery, EMI Music, and World Architecture Festival.
Marlon Tate has received recognition including a Red Dot Design Award for Brands & Communication, multiple Ermis Awards, and honors from the Greek Communication Design Awards. Georgópoulos is also a lecturer at London College of Communication, where he leads a three-week studio. He is a frequent speaker at international conferences, including the Big Design Conference in Dallas, Texas, where he presented on "Time Travel Branding." His talks focus on storytelling in visual culture, emphasizing the importance of narrative-driven communication in branding and design.
