Nikola Jokić

Nikola Jokić is a Serbian professional basketball player and center for the Denver Nuggets of the National Basketball Association. Known as the Joker, Jokić has established himself as one of the most accomplished players and centers in NBA history, and is frequently cited as a significant draft value. Jokić was selected 41st overall by the Nuggets in the second round of the NBA draft, a selection that received little attention at the time and was announced on a news ticker during a commercial break.

Jokić became the lowest-drafted player in NBA history to be named Most Valuable Player and the first player drafted in the second round of the common draft era to win the award. After playing with Mega Vizura, Jokić made his NBA debut and earned a spot on the NBA All-Rookie First Team. He continued to develop his game, earning multiple NBA Most Valuable Player Awards and an NBA Finals MVP Award after leading the Nuggets to their first NBA championship. Jokić became the first player in NBA history to lead the entire postseason in total points, rebounds, and assists, and the first center to win Finals MVP since Shaquille O'Neal, recording the most triple-doubles in a single postseason.

Jokić is recognized for his all-around skills, particularly his passing ability, and is considered one of the best-passing centers in basketball history. He ranks second all-time among NBA players in triple-doubles and holds the record for the fastest triple-double, achieved in 14 minutes and 33 seconds. Jokić is the only NBA player to record a game with at least 30 points, 20 rebounds, and 20 assists. He has averaged a triple-double for a season and became the only player in NBA history to lead the league in rebounds and assists per game in a single season. Jokić also became the all-time leader in career assists for NBA centers, surpassing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar.

Jokić is an eight-time NBA All-Star, eight-time All-NBA Team member, and a three-time NBA Most Valuable Player. He is one of three players in NBA history to finish in the top two in MVP voting for six consecutive years. Internationally, Jokić represents the Serbian national team, earning a silver medal at the Summer Olympics and a bronze medal at a subsequent Summer Olympics. Jokić's combination of playmaking, scoring, and rebounding has influenced the evolution of the center position in professional basketball.
