Nico Rosberg

Nico Rosberg is a former Formula One World Champion, entrepreneur, and broadcaster with a career that highlights perseverance and precision in motorsport. A German and Finnish former racing driver, Rosberg competed under the German flag in Formula One from 2006 to 2016.

Since leaving Formula One, Rosberg has become a sustainability entrepreneur and investor in green technologies and mobility startups. As CEO and founder of Rosberg Ventures, he oversees a fund of funds strategy focused on investments in startups with transformative potential. Rosberg has invested in companies such as Lilium, Volocopter, What3Words, Tier, and Chargepoint, and is an investor and shareholder in the all-electric racing series Formula E. He co-founded the Greentech Festival, growing it into a global event series. Rosberg is also the owner and CEO of Rosberg Xtreme Racing, an Extreme E team dedicated to addressing climate change. He serves as an official judge on the TV show "Die Höhle der Löwen," the German edition of the BBC's "Dragon's Den," supporting sustainable startups.

Rosberg is part of Sky's punditry team and appears on RTL in Germany and Sky Italia, recognized for his firsthand racing knowledge and direct commentary style. He is a regular guest at the World Economic Forum in Davos, engaging with leaders on sustainability, mobility, and social justice. Fluent in five languages and experienced in addressing global audiences, Rosberg is an advocate for sustainable development and innovation in motorsport and technology.

He began competitive kart racing at age six, winning regional and national French championships, then progressed to car racing at 16 and claimed the Formula BMW ADAC Championship with nine victories. In the GP2 category with the ART Team, he won five races to become the first GP2 champion. After achieving the highest marks in the Williams F1 Team's engineering aptitude test, Rosberg was signed to race in the Formula One season.

Rosberg's Formula One career spanned 11 seasons with Williams Racing and Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport. He debuted with Williams Racing before joining Mercedes-AMG Petronas Motorsport, where he raced alongside Michael Schumacher and Lewis Hamilton. Rosberg established a notable rivalry with Hamilton, contributing to Mercedes' success. From 2013 to 2016, he was runner-up to Hamilton twice before winning the Drivers' Championship. That victory made Rosberg and his father Keke the second father-son duo to win the World Drivers' Championship, following Graham Hill and Damon Hill. Over his career, he started 206 Grands Prix, achieving 23 wins, 30 pole positions, 20 fastest laps, and 57 podium finishes.

Five days after securing the title in a final-race showdown with Hamilton, Rosberg announced his immediate retirement from Formula One. He was awarded the Laureus World Sports Award for Breakthrough of the Year and inducted into the FIA Hall of Fame. In retirement, Rosberg transitioned into sustainable technology and entrepreneurship.
