Nick Halley

Brigadier General Nick Halley (U.S. Army, Retired) is an expert on leadership, world affairs, and terrorism. Halley served a 32-year career in the United States Army, during which he commanded more than 15,000 soldiers in combat in Vietnam, Grenada, Desert Storm in Iraq, and special operations missions worldwide. He is an Army paratrooper, Army Ranger, and special operations veteran. Halley is a graduate of West Point and the Army War College, and holds a master's degree in nuclear physics from the University of Virginia.

In addition to his combat commands, Halley held a variety of positions, including assistant professor of mathematics at West Point, assignments to the U.S. embassies in Korea and Japan, chief of staff of the National Defense University, and many years with the Army's 82nd Airborne Division. His final military assignment was as the commanding general of artillery and rocket forces in Desert Storm. Throughout his career, Halley was awarded several decorations, including two Silver Stars for bravery in combat, four Bronze Stars, and two Purple Hearts for wounds in combat operations.

Following his retirement from the Army, Halley held director, vice president, and general manager roles with international firms, including Motorola. He combines leadership lessons learned at West Point, in combat command, and during his military service with techniques from his civilian career in international electronics organizations. This blend of military and corporate experience informs his work on leadership and organizational excellence.

Halley is the author of two books, "Leadership Under Fire!" and "Terrorism: The Target Is You!" In "Terrorism: The Target Is You!" he explains the background, strategy, significance, and effects of the war against the international network of radical forces and the countries that support them. In "Leadership Under Fire!" Halley draws from leadership experience in the military, government, and corporate sectors, illustrating principles through real-world stories relevant to leaders at all levels.

Halley has appeared as a terrorism analyst on FOX News Network and serves as the on-air military and terrorism expert for WGN-TV in Chicago, which is broadcast nationwide on cable. He also teaches college courses on terrorism and world affairs and is a professional speaker with corporations and organizations nationwide. Halley is recognized for translating complex geopolitical and military realities into accessible insights on leadership, national security, and global affairs.
