NERO

Nero is a Grammy Award-winning British electronic music trio composed of producers Dan Stephens and Joe Ray, and vocalist Alana Watson. The group is recognized for its fusion of electronic, dubstep, and drum and bass, and has played a significant role in the development of the dubstep genre. Stephens and Ray both have backgrounds in classical music—Ray on classical guitar and Stephens on cello—while also composing electronic music. Formed in 2004, Nero initially released a series of drum and bass records before evolving their sound. Watson began featuring on Nero's songs in 2008 and later became a full-time member.

Sasha Frere-Jones, journalist for New Yorker Magazine, included Nero's remix of The Streets' "Blinded by the Lights" among his top songs. The group has produced remixes for Daft Punk, Deadmau5, and La Roux, and received recognition as Best Dubstep Act from Beatport. Nero was nominated for the BBC Sound of 2011 poll. The group gained further attention with singles such as "Promises," which debuted as Zane Lowe's Hottest Record in the World.

Nero released its debut album, "Welcome Reality," a concept album designed as a score for a fictional film, which reached number one on the UK Albums Chart. The single "Promises" achieved Gold certification in the United States, and Nero won a Grammy Award for Best Remixed Recording, Non-Classical, for a collaborative remix of "Promises" with Skrillex. The group also composed an orchestral piece, later titled "Symphony 2808," performed with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra on BBC Radio 1.

Nero's track "Into the Past" appeared on the soundtrack for Baz Luhrmann's film adaptation of "The Great Gatsby." The group produced the song "Follow Me" for Muse, with its instrumental version featured in the soundtrack for the film "World War Z." Nero's second studio album, "Between II Worlds," continued to showcase their electronic music production and songwriting. The group has also participated in the "We Are Friends" tour with Deadmau5 and released singles such as "Truth." With a career spanning two decades, Nero is known for its contributions to electronic music, dubstep, and drum and bass, and remains a prominent act in the British electronic music scene.
