Monty Metzger

Monty C. M. Metzger is a German-born Swiss entrepreneur and investor. He is known for being the founder and CEO of LCX (the Liechtenstein Cryptoassets Exchange). He is also the founder of the European venture capital fund Digital Leaders Ventures, Toto Finance USA, the largest marketplace for tokenized diamonds and MasterDEX, a decentralized web3 platform. He is the author of the books "Mobile Future 2020" (2009), "Blockchain Banking: The Future of Money and Finance" (2023) and "Tokenization: The Trillion Dollar Asset Revolution" (2026).

Forbes published Metzger’s famous quote “blockchain is to money what e-mail was to the letter.” Newsweek ranked Metzger among one of the most important people in Liechtenstein and the Fintech industry.

Metzger graduated with degrees in business administration and electronic marketing after studying in Germany and Switzerland. He also attended executive programs at Harvard Business School and Stanford University.

He founded his first Internet company at the age of 18 in 1998. He went on to found several technology companies, M&A investment firms, VC funds, and a regulated cryptocurrency exchange. He sold his company with offices in New York, Munich, Beijing, and Tokyo in 2008 and began pursuing investing.

Metzger founded Ahead of Time, an investment boutique, where he led the firm's international mergers and acquisitions business in Europe. Metzger initiated a future think tank on the future of Mobile Technologies in 2009 where he became famous as a technology futurist. Later, he founded Digital Leaders Ventures in 2014. At Digital Leaders Ventures, Metzger invested in global technology companies and initiated the FIA Smart Cities Initiative, a startup contest that was organized in collaboration with the Formula E racing series.

Metzger founded LCX Liberty Crypto Exchange in 2018. In 2022, LCX gained nine regulatory approvals, more than any other company in the industry, establishing the leading regulated crypto company in Europe. Don Tapscott and Wikipedia founder Jimmy Wales, both are advisors to LCX. Metzger has served as a speaker at events such as the World Economic Forum, the Dubai Blockchain Conference, Blockchain Symposium Oman, and the Singapore Fintech Festival.

He is a member of the FII Future investment initiative and a New Champion at the World Economic Forum.
