Molly Kearney Biography
Molly Kearney is an American stand-up comedian and actor recognized as the first openly nonbinary cast member on NBC's "Saturday Night Live." Kearney joined the sketch comedy series as a featured player, debuting alongside Marcello Hernández, Michael Longfellow and Devon Walker. Their arrival at Studio 8H marked a milestone for LGBTQ+ representation on network television, and they remained with the show for two seasons before departing after the 49th season.
Prior to joining "Saturday Night Live," Kearney developed their stand-up comedy career by performing regularly at The Lincoln Lodge in Chicago, a long-running independent stand-up showcase. Kearney was selected for Comedy Central's "Up Next" showcase and performed at Clusterfest in San Francisco. In addition to stand-up, Kearney portrayed Fern Dannely in Amazon's "A League of Their Own" and appeared in the Disney+ series "The Mighty Ducks: Game Changers" and Paramount+ "Good Burger 2."
After "Saturday Night Live," Kearney was cast as Barbara, a newly promoted office manager, in the CBS workplace comedy "DMV," appearing alongside Tim Meadows and Harriet Dyer. A reviewer for RogerEbert.com noted Kearney's comedic abilities in the role. Kearney also opened for Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on the "Restless Leg Tour."
