
Miriam Shor is an actress, director, and singer whose career spans stage, film, and television. Shor first gained recognition as an original cast member of the Off-Broadway rock musical "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," where she played Yitzhak. She remained with the production through its various stages, including the Off-Broadway opening and the feature film adaptation. Her performance is also featured on the cast recording of the show.
Shor attended the University of Michigan as part of the inaugural BFA theater program and earned her union card before her junior year by performing in an Equity production of "A Man for All Seasons" in Connecticut. After graduating, she moved to New York City and quickly joined the chorus of a touring production of "Fiddler on the Roof." Shor established herself on the New York stage before transitioning to screen work, earning the Screen Idol Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Supporting Role for the film adaptation of "Hedwig and the Angry Inch," along with nominations from the Golden Satellite Awards and the Phoenix Film Critics Society.
Shor starred as Diana Trout in the TV Land/Paramount+ comedy-drama series "Younger," earning a Critics' Choice Awards nomination for Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series. She made her directing debut with an episode of "Younger." Shor also had a recurring role as Erica Haskard in the drama series "The Americans," and, with the cast, received a Screen Actors Guild Award nomination for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. On stage, she played Madelaine True in "The Wild Party" at New York City Center.
Shor's film credits include roles in the drama "Lost Girls," "Maestro," "Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3," and "American Fiction." She also guest-starred on "And Just Like That...." In the Apple TV+ science fiction series "Pluribus," Shor had a recurring role and received an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.
In addition to acting, Shor has worked as a filmmaker and advocate on social issues. She directed and produced the documentary "My NDA" with Juliane Dressner, which premiered at the South by Southwest Film & TV Festival. The documentary addresses the impact and misuse of nondisclosure agreements. Shor's career encompasses theater, television, film, and documentary filmmaking, reflecting her versatility and ongoing contributions to the entertainment industry.
