Mike Schultz

Mike Schultz is a Paralympic snowboarder, inventor, and entrepreneur known for his remarkable comeback story and impact on adaptive sports. Schultz first built a career in action sports as a professional motocross and snowmobile racer. In 2008, a snowmobile racing accident resulted in the amputation of his left leg above the knee, but he refused to give up the sports he loved and began designing his own high-performance prosthetic limb to return to competition.

Schultz transitioned into para snowboarding and quickly became one of the sport’s top athletes. At the 2018 Winter Paralympics in PyeongChang, he captured a gold medal in snowboard cross and a silver medal in banked slalom, and he later won silver again in snowboard cross at the 2022 Winter Paralympics. In 2026, he competed in his final Paralympic competition, where he won a bronze medal in men's banked slalom, marking a send-off to his athletic career. Over the course of his Paralympic career, he earned multiple medals and became known for his skill, determination, and leadership within Team USA.

Beyond competition, Schultz has had a major influence on adaptive sports technology. He founded BioDapt, a company that designs advanced prosthetics—including the “Moto Knee” and “Versa Foot”—used by many adaptive athletes around the world. Through both his athletic achievements and innovations, Schultz has helped expand opportunities for athletes with disabilities and inspire a new generation in adaptive sports.
