Mike Patton

Mike Patton, best known as the lead vocalist of rock bands "Faith No More" and "Mr. Bungle," has been a pivotal figure in the music industry, contributing to a myriad of bands including "Tomahawk," "The Dillinger Escape Plan," "Fantômas," "Moonchild Trio," "Kaada/Patton," "Dead Cross," "Lovage," "Mondo Cane," "the X-ecutioners," and "Peeping Tom." His extensive collaborations with avant-garde jazz saxophonist John Zorn, hip hop producer Dan the Automator, and classical violinist Eyvind Kang, have served to further diversify his musical portfolio. In his capacity as a producer or co-producer, Patton has worked with artists like Merzbow, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Sepultura, Melvins, Melt-Banana, and Kool Keith.

He is integral in filmmaking as well, lending his talents to various movie soundtracks and voice-acting work supplying voices for characters and other creatures.

In 1999, Patton co-founded Ipecac Recordings with Greg Werckman, a venture he has managed since its inception. Known for his vocal proficiency, diverse singing techniques, and wide range of projects, Patton's influence has been cited by various bands including Coheed and Cambria, Deftones, Five Finger Death Punch, Hoobastank, Incubus, Lostprophets, Killswitch Engage, Korn, Queens of the Stone Age, System of a Down, Papa Roach, Mushroomhead, and Slipknot. He has been an outspoken critic of the mainstream music industry, aligning more with non-mainstream music.

Patton's musical journey began in earnest when he joined Faith No More in 1988, the band's album "The Real Thing" reached the top 20 on the US charts in 1989. Patton's diverse musical projects include the band Mr. Bungle, which released its first demo tape "The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny" in 1986. His demonstrated versatility as a vocalist was a key factor in his selection as the lead singer for Faith No More. Patton also has a background in English literature, having studied at California State Polytechnic University, Humboldt.
