Mike Norvell

Mike Norvell is the head coach of the Florida State Seminoles football program, serving as the 11th head coach in the team's history. A former wide receiver at the University of Central Arkansas, Norvell holds the school's all-time receptions record and is a member of the UCA Sports Hall of Fame. He began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Central Arkansas and later held coaching positions at Tulsa, Pittsburgh, and Arizona State, including roles as passing game coordinator and offensive coordinator, before becoming a head coach.

After his tenure at Pittsburgh, Norvell worked as co-offensive coordinator, wide receivers coach, and director of recruiting, contributing to the Panthers' national ranking in total offense. At Arizona State University, he served as offensive coordinator, quarterbacks coach, and later associate head coach. Under Norvell's leadership, Arizona State consistently ranked among the top 25 offenses nationally, including a 15th-place finish in total offense and an undefeated home record that led to a Holiday Bowl appearance.

Norvell's first head coaching position was with the Memphis Tigers, where he achieved the highest winning percentage in program history and led Memphis to three consecutive American Athletic Conference Championship Games. He is among a select group of head coaches to reach that milestone within their first four years at the helm of a Division I FBS program.

At Florida State, Norvell guided the Seminoles to an undefeated regular season and the program's 16th ACC title. His offenses have averaged 37.7 points per game during his head coaching career, consistently ranking among the nation's leaders in scoring. Norvell has also emphasized academic achievement, as reflected by the 'Seminole Scholar' patch worn by student-athletes and the football program's high Academic Progress Rate, which exceeds the national average for FBS teams.

Norvell led Florida State to the program's seventh undefeated regular season, an ACC Championship Game victory, and a top-four ranking in the final regular season Associated Press poll. He became the first Florida State coach to win ACC Coach of the Year since Bobby Bowden. Norvell received the Dodd Trophy and the Paul "Bear" Bryant Award, becoming one of a select few head coaches to earn both honors in the same season. The season also produced multiple All-Americans and saw 10 Florida State players selected in the NFL Draft, the program's highest total in several years. Norvell is recognized for his offensive strategy, commitment to academic standards, and program development within college football.
